FedEx Delivery of Large Truck Tire

So I had a flat on my coach (RV) and had to order a new tire online. None of the local tire dealers had the tire I needed in stock and Michelin had it on backorder. Luckily my wife found one online in Kentucky and they shipped it out quickly.

Now this tire is 42" tall and is 140 pounds. Was real curious on how they would package it and ship it. Well it arrived in town and sat at the local FedEx facility for a full day before they finally put it on a truck and got it to my house. Was wondering how the delivery would go. Would they leave it at the curb? Would they ring the bell and tell me to take it off the truck? Would there be two guys to unload it? Well see the video from one of my front door cams to find out.

I had just replaced all six of the rear tires back in May. This tire had less than 7000 miles on it. No wear at all yet. But I picked up a bolt on my last trip just as I was getting home. The TPMS started screaming when I was unloading food at the house. I saw a bolt in the tire and had to put air in it just to get it to the storage yard. By morning it was totally flat. Bummer.

When the tire hit the ground coming out of the truck at about the 26 sec. mark, it must have scared the crap out of a squirrel in that tree in your front yard! :D

Yeah he did, but he should have mounted it for you, too

We frequently see delivery horror stories and videos. I have to say that the UPS and Fedex drivers that have served me are very responsible and do a great job. Like so many things it depends on the individual and to a lesser extent their management.

I think it's related to professionalism. UPS, DHL and FedX, as examples, are professional delivery services, that's their only business model. Amazon, Laser Ship and Joe Shmo working part time delivering things are not professional delivery services and delivery is a secondary thing for them. Sometimes our UPS guy will pull or back into the driveway, especially if there's multiple packages or a heavy package, but he normally will walk it up to the driveway gate which is near the house. FedX and DHL always pull in and back out. All of them drive professionally and respect our property. The rest would drive across the lawn to get to the front door if there wasn't a stand of trees in their way and then throw the package in the general direction of the house.

Actually the Fed Ex man did a good job of it.
I agree. I was really concerned how it would be shipped. Did not know if it would be boxed. That would have been tough for the guy. I thought it almost got away from him as he got it out of the truck. Luckily I am not on a hill! My Security Squirrel came down the tree to check things out.

Looks like the back of an MCI J model

FedEx sucks, period, doesn’t matter how long they have been in the business. They have been subcontracting their ground services for years and their reputation has gone downhill
