Hi all,
Why is the footage recorded on the SD card so much smaller in file size compared to the footage I got from recording through Storage Server? Both are recorded from the mainstream.
I just bought a Hikvision unit similar to DS-2CD2420 and have been playing with the iVMS package.
I was expecting the file on both the SD and storage server to be approximately the same in size. Instead they ratio is almost 1:12, (SD is smaller). I believe I have set the parameters (res, fps, bitrate, quality, codec) all the same.
Is it possible that the camera, by default, put a quality limit when recording into its internal SD?
Or perhaps the files on the SD is super compressed? If so, is there a way to record this compressed version using storage server? That will save quite a bit of storage cost.
