I'll bet LEO drivers had (or should be required) to take lessons on do's and don'ts with that beast. I recall early 80's to early 90's when CHP (CA Hwy Patrol) dropped a few land-cruiser Dodge Diplomats and sprinkled in a few Mustang notchback coupes with 5.0 L (early Cleveland 302's with 2V or 4V carbs depending on year and with FI in early '85). The pursuing LEO would turn a corner and put their foot in it like it was a Diplomat and oops....they go off-roading. They'd do over 140MPH, a LOT for a relatively small, lightweight car.
Next to CA, Florida was the second largest buyer of these Mustangs.
