I currently have a T180 in this location and have attached example images. I would like some opinions on whether a Color4k-T would be better here. I appreciate the wide view but I feel a lot of it is not useful in this situation. I don't need IR as I am happy with the current night time image quality given the ambient lighting. Or perhaps, would you put a completely different camera here? Unfortunately, I am limited to one camera here and the height cannot be changed. My priority is observation over identification.

What is the goal of the camera - IDENTIFY or OVERVIEW?

A 4K-T wouldn't really gain you anything other than a smaller field of view.

Neither camera will give you IDENTIFY at that height and distance.

I would stay with that camera unless you were wanting IDENTIFY and then it would be a varifocal optically zoomed to a pinchpoint by the street or lower the camera.

Good question, I apologize I should have spoken about it. I am limited to one camera and observation takes priority over identification. Thank you very much for your thoughts.

If you can't identify, it kind of makes the whole excersise pointless as all you can say is someone stole my truck last night without ever being able to prove who, which kind of leaves you in the same position as not having a camera. If you're only allowed 1 camera on the outside of the building, you could try putting a 2nd camera in the upstairs window. Yes the picture will be compromised and sometimes reflections may interfere, but it may give you an opportunity for that close view.

There are some 2 lenses cameras available but they're unfortunately usually not on very good sensors atm and / or are domed. A very small ptz is another option, but then you go up in price, complexity and these have thier own issues with detection, tracking etc. I think many who use them on here tend to use other cameras to send trigger events rather than relying on the cameras own detection in many cases, an option not available withone camera permitted only.
