Have had quite a journey trying to secure a medium sized ranch property in the mountains near here. Started out with very cheap consumer cameras, wasn't happy with the software and cloud access. Current solution is a combination of Ring (with motion sensors and door entry sensors as well as cameras) along with a bunch of Reolink cameras and a Reolink NVR. But I'm not happy with the analytics/alerting capabilities of the Reolink software (which is pretty terrible), so moving on from that most likely.

I am currently designing my next generation system, and as part of that process have the following projects under way:

- Evaluating "smart" IVR/NVR/VMS solutions. Will install Spot.ai and Lumana next week, am also looking at Coram and the Sunell "AI Box" solution.

- Evaluating ALPR solutions, right now trying out an Axis Q1700 license plate camera with their edge software, comparing to Spot and Lumana (both of which also do ALPR)

- Am trying to understand radar vs thermal for perimeter protection, in a fairly brushy area. Looking at Axis and Hikvision radar or thermal + PTZ solutions. Also evaluating one IR beam based "electronic fence" solution.

- Evaluating a bunch of camera options. Comparing (on the Spot and Lumana systems) Axis vs. Hanwha vs. Reolink vs. Sunell

Much fun, hoping for some good discussion here about the options - and happy to share what I am learning.
