ok so I found this dvr at value village along with 7 cameras, there may or may not have been more cameras and the power bricks but I couldn't find em.
from a lot of googling around I have a sneaking suspicion this is just a rebranded hikvision device, ds-7216hghi-sh I think, is there a way I can verify this???
can I load a hikvision firmware on it without blowing it up????
how can I recover from a bad upgrade, I have read about some kinda tftp upload or some sort of serial connection, how does this work and where is the connector on the board for serial and what is the pinout????
and is it posable to get the web interface to work with modern web browsers without support for that antiquated internet exploder plugin, I use linux so the ie-tab extension for firefox and chrome will not work.
and if anybody is curious.... to power this thing, I have a powersupply like the kind used for 3d printers but 12 volts and the cord from the power brick for a dead harddrive enclosure that fit. and that powered it up, cameras and all.
