I have been chosen to be the lead on a commercial-level surveillance system install. I have very little experience with such systems, but have a relatively strong background in IT.
The idea is that we will build our system so we can know our system and will not need to rely on vendors to show-up to fix any issues we may have. We want to do everything "in-house."
Doing some research and I am thinking all I really need hardware-wise is a server with multiple TBs of storage, several PoE switches and some IP cameras.
This is a fairly large facility and a growing company. I want to start off with 32 cameras and eventually expand to 64 or more.
A friend mentioned to me about a Linux-based program called zoneminder. Does anyone have any experience with the zoneminder software and would you recommend it?
Thank you in advance!
