I decided to try an experiment for Halloween.

I feel the results were skewed because the bowls weren't monitored and kids were able to take fistfuls of candy, but the rocks still had a pretty good showing at 16lbs, of the original 30lbs, handed out. I don't think it helped that a lot of parents didn't think the rocks were an option and were just there to hold down the table. I also noticed that others talked the kids out of choosing a rock.

Next year I will lose the fruit snack option and only give the choice between candy or a rock, but those are the reactions I was hoping to see.

I would fill it with pretty rocks from a rock shop.
These were all rocks and gravel I found in my yard when trenching and redefining beds. I asked my 8yo daughter to help me sort out the nicer ones and she basically pulled them all out. Hell, she wants to grab a rock out of the island every time we walk through the Kroger parking lot.

Someone in your neighborhood will pay the price for handing out rocks to kids. :nervous:

Kids have a genetic trait where they automatically want to throw a rock.

I highly recommend not placing anything in one's front yard that can be picked up and easily thrown. Neighborhood terrorists can't resist using readily accessible stuff laying around to damage other people's property.
