Has anyone considered applying a repellent to the lens of the camera?

Doesn't matter if your cameras are under soffits, even when there is lateral wind, there is still a chance for water droplets to appear on the camera. Does anyone know if RainX works?

I personally cannot attest to its effectiveness but the topic has been bandied about here pretty good==>> site:ipcamtalk.com rain-x

Rain X might work but may be too caustic to lens. Using gravity might be the only chance (by pointing the camera down a bit). The rain shields don't do much either especially when there is a lot of wind

That's why, in the old days when it was called CCTV cameras, they were installed in a relatively massive housing with a windshield and windshield wiper. I threw out the last one I had about fifteen years ago.
