Would appreciate some help on trying to get license plates at night. I have no problem reading plates during the day but night was impossible to read.
So I setup a profile for night and started messing around with some settings.
Based on what I read in this forum, I currently have the settings below but it is still not readable.
Shutter - 1/1000
Gain: 0-40
Iris: 90

Below is difference between night and day. The day time picture is better because I zoomed in manually on my phone screen shot.

What is the distance to the plates?

Can you post a video clip of each?

Your night shot looks to be out-of-focus. When switching between day and night mode, the camera appears to trigger an auto-focus cycle. With settings for LPR at night, it's likely not finding anything to focus on. After it's switched to night mode, try lowering your shutter speed significantly, re-focus and return the shutter speed back to the original value. If this gets you a good picture you may need to set up a script to push the right focus value after switching to B&W at night.

I just ordered one of these from Andy. That screenshot isn't inspiring.
