HDD problem on TruVision NVR 10

Hello,

I’ve got a TrueVision model TVN 1008S.

I’m getting buzzing alerts all the time; the system says the HDD is not found. I need to restart to make it stop buzzing and recognise the HDD. However, after a while it starts buzzing again.

I formatted the HDD and ran the bad sector detector, it found 2. The SMART tools didn’t find any problems.

I also tried to open the NVR to reconnect the cables in an attempt it could be a bad connection, also without success.

Is the next step replacing the HDD and/or SATA cable? Is there anything else to try?

By the way, I got this system less than 4 years ago, and it has a 3GB WD purple - 3GB only! I feel I was scammed?

I wanted to upgrade the firmware but interlogix Australia website points to an invalid URL for version 2.6 and the US website only has the same version that I do, 2.1.I. Where can I get this firmware?
 
Best bet is to get the firmware from the vendor you purchased it from. Too many people try to update stuff with firmware they find online or on the manufacturer website and brick their unit. Many units are hacked from one region to another and will brick on updating.

It sounds like your HDD is failing. You should have got more years out of the purple, but there are fake purple drives being sold online as well.
 
Swap drives.
