I am receiving my new computer tomorrow. It's a Dell 8930 I7-8700 and is fitted with a 1TB HDD. I plan to install a 256GB PCIe SSD that I already have for the OS and BI software and replace the 1TB HDD with a 6TB WD Purple HDD. While looking on Newegg.com for the HDD I noticed the purple drives are available in 5400 or 7200 RPM. And of course the 7200 is more expensive. Is their any benefit to the faster drive in a BI machine or is the 5400 good to go? Other than price what would be the downside to the faster drive?

I was not aware they were available in anything other than 5400rpm. What does the wd site say?
Edit: It appears they have a new 10tb and a 12tb in 7200rpm. They are enhanced for Ai.
Stick with the 5400.

Thanks for the quick reply. Honestly I wasn't paying close attention when browsing Newegg. Didn't notice it was only the 10 and 12GB drives that were available in 7200 rpm. I'm only interested in the 4 to 6GB drives anyway. Great! Saved some cash too. Thanks again.
