Hi there,
I'm from the Netherlands, and stumbled on your very informative forum.

Due to some personal bad exprienses in the recent past, i installed a full analog system about 5-6 years ago.
As it helped me with some issues, i found it very conveinient to have, but needed easier playback and search options. Also, higher resolution is a big wish.
Ive read a lot about Dahua and Hikvision, where i had a slight preference for the latter. (Can't tell why though...). So, about a week ago after reading a lot, i ordered a hik. The DS-2CD2142fwd-is wit latest firmware. (5.3.6i recall..)
Played with it yesterday, and installed it today. As i have no nvr yet, i put a 128gb sd-card in it too have some sort of storage.

Looking for a lot of tips over here, and a lotof info on how to expand to 10-12 cameras.

Your last line question answer:
i bought a nvr from hikvision: DS-7616NI-E2/A for 230€ (now price increased a bit at the shop) and put 2 HDD's in it.
This nvr server can get 100 mbps info from camera's.

Other modells can even do more, but for 10-12 active camera's with all 6-8 mbps it will do ok i guess.
Lot of people use pc with software and license can cost a lot for 12 camera's.
