Hello. New to the forum and need a little help with selecting an NVR, if possible.

After researching replacement for my 15 year old dvr/camera system, I have decided on the EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4MP varifocal cameras, which i believe to be the same as the Dahua IPC-HDW5442T-ZE-S3, but am unsure which NVR to pair them with.

This system is for rural residential usage and will include 5 cameras and the NVR, which only needs to have one HDD bay, PoE ports, and support the RTSP network protocol (for viewing live camera stream(s) periodically within my LAN). I don't need remote viewing, do not plan on using AI features, and it will not have internet access. The system will simply record 24/7 and only ever be accessed if a need arises (which was twice over the last 15 years with my old system).

Looking at the EmpireTech NVRs (just to keep it simple) it looks like maybe the EmpireTech NV4AI-8P-4KH (lite series) could fit the bill, but I can't find anything specifically mentioning it supporting the RTSP network protocol.

Any recommendations on NVRs (any brand - as long as its compatible with the camera mentioned above) that would fit my setup would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone can confirm whether or not the EmpireTech NV4AI-8P-4KH supports RTSP would be great.

Thanks.

The cameras are good, for most of us they are the default go-to

That NVR is LITE but still with 256 MBs incoming bandwidth would be fine for 5-6 of the 5442 series cameras. Otherwise if more cameras or using NVR AI I'd step up to the 5xxx series

Not sure on the RTSP

Thanks for the info bigredfish. The links were very helpful. Hopefully somebody will know about the RTSP for that model. I would imagine most any modern NVR would support it, but it is not listed in the network protocols...
