Hi,

I have a Dahua DHI-NVR2108HS-8P-I2 NVR running the latest firmware and I want to use the NVR's internal AI analysis to trigger events in Home Assistant.

I have followed the instructions for adding the rroller integration into home assistant and I am getting no movement or SMD events listed in home assistant.

I started to look at the underlying Dahua API and have made some calls using the browser that return 'No events' as a response.

So I am thinking that there is something I need to configure in the Dahua NVR in order to get events out of the API.

When I go to the NVR main page and go to:

Alarm -> Alarm Info

I see events listed such as:

<SMD:4>
<SMD:2>
<Intrusion:4>

And I can click on the play button to show a clip of that event so the NVR seems to be recording events.

What do I need to do in order for those events to show up in the Dahua API, and my assumption would be that they would then appear in Home Assistant via the rroller integration?

Any ideas on what I might need to look at to get things working.

As an aside, I have never seen events listed in the normal search page in the NVR. At the bottom of the search page I see ticks for 'General', 'Alarm', 'Motion' and 'Intell..' but there are no events shown to click on.

If anyone can explain how to get events shown on the search page that would be great.

So the story unfolds a bit more. I noticed in the events on the NVR that there were invalid logins from the HA account I set up. So that means that I must have pasted the incorrect password for one or more of the camera channels I added into HA.

I removed all the Dahua camera entries and started again adding each channel back in one at a time with a couple hours pause between adding each camera.

Now I am seeing events so I am guessing there is an issue that if one of the cameras added in HA has the incorrect password it affects the operation of all of them??

I also found a post on the HA integrations page stating that the rroller integration is not known to be great when adding in its own entities and that I should be looking at dealing with the events directly from the event bus rather than from the integration.

That means that I now have events into HA and that there probably is not a setting in the NVR to enable events.
