I've just come across your forum and you guys have a ton of information here, very friendly group!

I hope you can help me

I'm looking to set up a home surveillance system and have read some of the forums, however i'm now just looking for a reccomendation.

I would like a wired, non internet connected system, which has an NVR, no more than 8 Cameras all with IR capabilities and Sound recording capability.

I was thinking of this camera IPC-HDW5231R-Z , as the reccomendations seem to be good in the 115 page thread about it. Can someone help me with what NVR I should use, as well as what software I should use. Does the NVR come loaded with software or do I need to use some 3rd party software?

Any help would be much appreciated

Thank you

Have a look at this post... #3 what cctv system in the UK

Your NVR will come installed with software ready to go, you will just need to configure it and your cameras to it. Just remember to factor the cost of a internal hard drive.
The HDW5231R-Z camera are one of the best cameras you can get for the money, especially for night vision and thats where most of your crimes are likely to happen. These cameras have the required IR but depending on your setup location you can run them without they are that good. They also have a built in mic which can be utilised with your NVR recordings (You will just need to check for local laws as recording voice is illegal in some areas)

If you are looking at internal cameras these are probably overkill.
