Hi,

I need some help with settings for my new Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2-L camera. What are optimal settings for running ~15fps in Blue Iris regarding bitrate, and what i frame interval should i have for a 1:1 ratio in BI?

I have little to no experience when it comes to this, but judging from how it runs now i need to adjust some settings. Any help is appreciated!

I'd change bitrate type from Variable/VBR to Constant/CBR, change the max bit rate to 8,192 and make iFrame interval equal to frame rate (15 on main stream, 10 on sub stream).
You already have H.264 encoding selected and SVC off, so that's OK.

I thought that the substream iFrame should match the mainstream iFrame for motion detection to work best in BI since it uses the substream?
Yes, you're correct.... @Grenen , please make the substream frame rate 15 as well as the iFrame interval (both same as main stream)

Thanks, Mike A. :headbang:

There is no right, just what works for you. Depends a lot on the role and purpose of the camera.
Biggest tip, is use Image Parameters Switch so you have a faster shutter speed during the day. With Hikvision, selecting a shutter is not fixed, it's a range.
For sub-stream, I use the 3rd stream on 720p resolution, find it more accurate with AISense\Deepstack
Use H.265 (I find the bitrate too small for H.264 and 4k, comes down to how much detail you need\want)
Yes I run insane bit-rates, I recommend start high and wind back to sensible levels. Just experiment when there is a lot of activity (eg: windy day with leaves moving).
Whenever you change settings, go into BI camera settings, then save. Use same encoding and frame rates between streams.
Hikvision VBR is fine, Dahua always use CBR.
Frame rate, no higher than 15, but if you need more detail, lower the frame rate.

Day running 1/250ms, with WDR 25
Night running fixed 1/25ms with HLC 50 (this is an overview cam, you will experience blur at this speed)

Third stream as sub stream great idea, on cam with that feature, especially with Blue Iris.
