French speaking ;=) sorry for my english if any errors...
Living in Switzerland, near Lausanne a nice city in front of the Lake Leman (also wrongly called Geneva Lake) and the Alps. As Switzerland is generally considered safe I mainly use my IP-CAMS to track little animals (herissons, squirrels, weasels, birds, fox, etc). I discovered many funny things about their life using these cameras.
They generally show up by night or early in the morning in my garden. Thus I favor large sensors 2MP IR cams (starlight, etc) which currently seem to provide better quality during the night. I would like to move to 4MPs but I am not sure that current (2019) sensors are ready for good 4MP night vision. Maybee one day. My current setup (I started recently...) :
Cameras
DAHUA IPC-HDW5231R-ZE (2MP Starvision sensor)
DAHUA PTZ1A225U-IRA-N (2MP Starvision sensor)
"Servers"
Macmini server for IP-Camera Recorder software
Synology backend for video storage / backups etc.
Software
After multiple MacOs tests on different Macs and Operating systems (SightHound, VMS, SecuritySpy, etc) I finally decided to use a the less known but quite good DComplex LLC IP Camera Recorder Version 7.32.
Very flexible and configurable, and works quite well on my old macmini configured in pure faceless server.
I will test Blue Iris in the future, for sure.
Thanks for this wonderfull site !
