High Performance NVR

This NVR:

AI disabled: 1280 Mbps incoming, 1280 Mbps recording and 1024 Mbps outgoing
AI enabled: 640 Mbps incoming, 640 Mbps recording and 512 Mbps outgoing

Or Blue Iris with a Windows PC that would be limited by the speed of your switched and NIC (along with capability of computer). I am over 400Mbps with a 4th gen.

yep... nvr608-xi (NVR32CH-8XI)
nice pice of hardware, 8 hot swappable HD bays, big fans, high scaled SOC...
there are 32 & 64 camera versions... on Dahua page there is even 128ch...
Ability to add a lot of AI to cams (like second function to AI function done on cam, IVS done on camera and Video Meta Data or Face Detect/Recognite done on NVR)..

the only problem is that firmware is behind normal line 5xxx-EI...
we wait as Dahua will fulfill its promises to release the full functionality of AcuPick 2.0...

I looked at that NVR, am I mistaken or does it cut off at 8 cameras at 4K? I'm also concerned that it does not appear to be NDAA compliant. It would be nice to see a camera compatibility list, I use Avigilon, Bosch Pelco, among others. I love that it runs Linux, but there does not appear to be a client for it. It does appear to be a very nice NVR.

Best practice is to match NVR brand with camera brand to ensure full functionality.

These are not NDAA compliant, but unless you are installing for a government facility, the NDAA means nothing and as a homeowner or business you can use it.

Too many companies have jumped on the NDAA bandwagon and sell subpar performing cameras and NVRs at a premium price all under the disguise of being secure.

We have had many people come here thinking they need to get NDAA complaint stuff because some article scared them and in most instances once they learned what NDAA really meant and who it applied to and how poor the cameras perform, they then went and got Dahua or Hikvsion OEM as they represented the best overall value in terms of cost and performance.

The real issue that NDAA doesn't address is EVERY camera can be hacked, even NDAA cameras and NVRs. Don't let your cameras touch the internet and you won't have a problem.

Block the cams from the internet and go with the best bang for the buck and that will be Dahua and Hikvision OEMs.

Well known NDAA compliant companies have been hacked, thus showing that the ban and only using NDAA compliant devices like Verkada doesn't protect you if you give them internet access.

It is why we recommend DO NOT LET YOUR CAMERAS OR NVR TOUCH THE INTERNET. You isolate them via VLAN or dual NIC.

You are talking about decoding capability - it can DECODE to DISPLAY over HDMI output 8 streams at 4K @ 30fps..
At 25fps (USA) it will be 9 or 10 streams at 4K FULL RESOLUTION ..

To display 16 or 32 channels at once at 4K you must lower FPS or it will display from secondary stream (lower resolution)...
Without problem it can display 32 or 64 channels at once - it will simply use secondary streams.....

If You don't use Live View over HDMI functionality this limit don't bother You...
This limit have nothing with other NVR functionality (like recording camera streams to disk etc)..

Do you know if Dahua has a plan to release new FW update for this model anytime soon ? Also since this NVR doesn't have a POE in it, what kind of POE switch would you recommend for up to 8 cameras ?

New firmware is "supposed" to come out in January or February. @EMPIRETECANDY Might know more.

For the POE switch, I grabbed a trendnet 24 port poe+.
