Hik DDNS and iPhone iVMS 4500 app

Hi guys

I have enabled Hik DDNS on my NVR which is a 7616NI E2/8P. Status of DDNS is normal as per screenshot below

9PL1knu.png

Then I have registered on www.hik-online.com with a username and password, and added my NVR device. I entered the serial number of device, the same Domain as selected on NVR and '80' for port.
I was given a URL http://us.hik-online.com/mydomain which I can type in browser (on my PC as well as smartphone over 3G connection) and the NVR login page comes up. I can then log-in and see Live View. Is this how DDNS works ?

The problem is when I try and set it up on the iPhone app iVMS 4500-lite so I can Live View when I am away from home on a data connection. An error comes up as shown in screenshot below.
"The device is not registered in the DDNS"

How can this be when I can type it into my browser and it works OK ?

I think you just need to enter the domain name in the Device Domain slot rather than http://us.hikonline... Also make sure you have port 8000 forwarded or whatever you are using since the app uses a different port from the http port.

I tried entering just the domain name (without the URL bit). Still doesnt connect. It gives a different error now though. "No connection" or something like that. Earlier it used to be "The device is not registered in the DDNS".

As for the password field, I have tried both of below:
1) My username and password from www.hik-online.com registration
2) The NVR username and password

Same error with both...the saga continues.

Thanks for your input though - it was something that never crossed my mind that I should try.

device domain should be.

yourdomain

example: myhouse12345

the you should add that doman on the hik-online.

Yup, thats exactly what I did.
I used to enter http://us.hik-online.com/myhomedomain
Now I entered myhomedomain but still no go.

I am going to have a better look at port forwarding. I think that's where I will find a solution to this !

DDNS access from computer browser works fine. Its just that iVMS phone app not working

Looks like the ddns is working, go to the network settings and see what the ports are set to. By default they should be 80 (http), 554 (rtsp), and 8000 (for iphone app). I always set up a static ip address for the NVR then port forward both tcp and udp ports for all three to that IP address. If you are on the same network as the NVR and your router does not support loopback then you need to change device domain to ip address and put the ip address of the NVR in there instead otherwise it wont work. If you are not on the same network or using your phone carriers data then the domain setting should work.

Also if you wish you can use the ezviz cloud p2p to connect, just go to the site and register then it will ask you for the serial number and the verification code (in the NVR network settings.) With this option no port forwarding is necessary and sometimes some internet providers will block ports so it is the only way to connect.

Hi willisv

Thanks for your response.
This is what I have in the NVR
NAT.PNG

This is what is port-forwarded in router
port-f.PNG

I have checked for open/closed ports on http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and ports 80, 554 & 8000 are open.

NVR local IP is 192.168.1.9

Try disabling UPNP and see if that helps, maybe you can google port mapping for your router and make sure you did it right. Other then that I don't have anything else to suggest, can you connect on a PC with a web browser?

change your your register mode to IP/DOMAIN

enter in your external IP (Google find my ip and it'll give it to you)
enter in the port, should be 8000
enter in the username and pw on your NVR

see how that works

Re: Hik DDNS and iPhone iVMS 4500 app

Yeah, that is working and will work until the dynamic IP address changes.

But doesnt that defeat the whole point of DDNS if you enter an IP address ..??
Its not a static IP, hence my need for getting DDNS working on the app

I just want DDNS to work when using carrier data, not home wifi

OK, I might be getting close.
I just deleted the NVR from my hik-online account and added it back again.

What does the 'Platform effective port' mean in the pic below ?

I have also disabled uPnP but it hasn't helped (it did eventually, probably needed some time to kick in. See post below)

OMG !!

It appears that it is now working !!!!!

I had disabled uPnP and it started working.

I then enabled uPnP again and it still was working.

What the !!

Can anyone tell me why it is defaulting to port 30208 for HTTP external in screenshot attached ?
It just picks a random available port does it ?
