Hikvision camera setup

Ive got a hikvision 7604 ni NVR. I bought two h.view cameras at first that worked straight away. However, quality was not great particularly the night vision.

I decided to buy a hikvision colorvu, it would not work at first, i messed about with settings and finally got it to work, but now it refuses to work

To get it to work i was changing it from manual to plug and play and rebooting receiver. I think the camera is ok becuase i did hacwsame bother with one of the h. View cameras. All cameras show POE power, but they all carry a 192.168.254.5 type ip addreas, is this normal?

Is the camera plugged directly into POE ports on the back of the NVR?

I believe the HIK cameras will need activating with the SADP software?

Just out of interest, what model HView cameras are you having picture quality trouble with?

I will give SADP a go later. These cameras are ok, nightvision not great though, no chance of seeing anyone at night

Well they are budget cams providing 5MP on a sensor smaller than what is considered adequate for a 2MP camera, so it will need over double the amount of light at night as a 2MP, thus the poor night quality.
