Should a Hikvision NVR automatically re-connect to NAS storage if that storage is temporarily unavailable?
I recently configured my Hikvision DS-7616NI-I2 NVR to use NAS Storage in addition to the two local hard drives. It took a fair amount of hair pulling, consternation and a few choice words, but I finally got it working. It's been running without a hiccup for a few days now, so I decided to see what happens if I shut down the NAS and bring it back up.
I was surprised to find that the NVR does not re-connect to the NAS storage automatically. It just shows 'Offline' in the HDD Management page, and the NVR periodically beeps three long beeps and two short (I think that is the number '8' in Morse code). It continues in this state and never re-connects.
When I reboot the Hikvision NVR, it re-connects to the NAS successfully and all appears normal again.
Here are the details of my NVR:
Hikvision NVR: DS-7616NI-I2
Firmware: V4.21.008 build 190625
Is this the expected behavior of a Hikvision NVR? I may need to re-think my use of NAS if this is the case.
