Hikvision ds-7808nb-k1 compatible firmware for english

I have found myself in a rabbit hole with what seems to be a Chinese-only NVR from hikvision ds-7808nb-k1. Is there a compatible english firmware I can use, I am happy to risk trying even if it doesn't work, only if it makes sense of course.

Second question is if I get a compatible firmware, how would I go about the upgrade file onto the nvr?

Most of these are created for regions, so if you have a Chinese only NVR, in all likelihood it will not accept another region firmware. Most of the time when someone tries this they end up bricking the NVR.

So you can either learn Chinese or find an English user manual and match up the screenshots to get by.

I would like to try to provide another region firmware even it ends up bricking it. Worst case scenario, it has a factory reset button on the motherboard which I have used to reset the admin credentials that were previously set up before me.

It was purchased over a year ago so unfortunately there is no returns

I believe this would be the international version of the firmware, but it is being done at your own risk.

Hopefully worse case is you can just hit a factory reset...but worse case usually is it just never boots up...factory reset button does not restore it to factory defaults - whatever firmware has been updated remains with after a factory reset...
