Hi all,

I had 2x DS-2CD2542FWD cameras but due to IR bleed I decided to replace them with 2CD2547G2. However I'm very disappointed with the night image, the top half looks fogged/blurred. I tried different shutter speeds, WDR HLC BLC and noise reduction on off etc. Whatever the settings the image looks quite poor. I would appreciate some tips, cheers.

That is reflection off the dome from all those lights around and across the street.

I would make sure the dome is clean inside and outside - it may be a smear contributing, but that looks to me like typical reflection from domes if the lens isn't angled straight out the bottom of the dome.

Also make sure the lens has seated properly against the dome.

You would be better off with a turret or bullet.

Hi, the dome is clean and the cam is brand new. I can't go with a turret as I wanted something discreet.

One more from just now, I genuinely don't understand why the inmage looks fogged above the red line.

It is the nature of a dome in certain fields of view. One of the many reasons most here do not recommend domes.

It is from the light across the street

The IR bleed you saw from the previous dome is the same phenomenon you are experiencing here.

Once you take the lens and rotate it such that it is on more of the side of the dome than the bottom, this potential exists.

You will need to play with the lens location - try angling it more down or re-orient the install so that the lens is more at the bottom of the dome instead of along the side.
