been looking at motorised lens cameras do the cameras need an additional power supply or do they just use cat 5/6 cable

Generally, there's not any extra power supply needed for cams with motorized zoom. Most will use POE over the cable as the cam normally would. Some big PTZs and other unusual cases may need seperate power.

What cams are you looking at?

Nothing extra required for that. Just a typical cam that uses POE or can use 12v power. i.e., It's OR, not both required.

Power
12 VDC, 0.92 A, max. 11.04 W, two-core terminal block, reverse polarity protection
PoE: 802.3af, Class 3, 36 V to 57 V, 0.35 A to 0.22 A, max. 12.5 W
