Hi, wondering if anyone can help.
I have a hikvision setup on my house, and one of my cameras has gone really poor. The plastic on the dome under close inspection is starting to Peel. So I contacted a hikvision supplier and I have bought a new camera. The camera is a upgrade and is a 4mp camera and the 3 other cameras I believe are 2mp. I was told that the camera is fine and compatible with the system I have.

Anyway I have updated the firmware and also set a strong password on my Nvr, and on my new camera. Capitals, lower case and numbers. Iv attached the camera and and put the new camera password in to the system but it is not working, I’m getting an error message. I’ve restarted the nvr loads of times, but still it won’t work. I’ve tried it in plug and play on settings, and also tried it in manual settings. But nothing works.

the error message I am getting is “ stream type not supported “

I will attach a few pics of my system, error message and camera..

If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

What is the configured stream type in the camera? Your NVR only does H.264 & H.264+ and not H.265 I think so if the camera's stream type is set to H.265, you could run into problems.

It’s a bit over my head to be honest, so can the stream type be changed for the camera to work? I was told it should work. I’m kind of hoping I’ve not just wasted £150

Yeah sure, just login via web browser into the camera -> configuration -> Video/Audio and post what you see there. Try to set "Video Encoding" to H.264 or H.264+.
