My nvr has been beeping lately every few days thst the hardrive is full but I have it set to overwrit. Once I turn it off and then back in works fine for another week or two. Today it restarted on its own. What would cause this and how can it be fixed.

probably a Hard drive failure of some kind. you could format the drive and see if it continues to misbehave in another couple weeks.

Would the cameras be set in quota mode with all quotas being the full hd amount be the problem. Should I switch it to group move ?

A recorder unusually beeps constantly if there is an operational error.
I presume your HDD has failed in some way.

Any suggestion on a replacement hard drive ?
A CCTV rated drive. Brand/series written below:
Seagate Skyhawk
or
WD/Western Digital Purple.

It is fate to say that most NVR's support up to 6TB maximum sized HDD.
Check the manual or search the model of your NVR online to find it's maximum HDD size.

Thanks. Appreciate it. What is the normal lifespan of the cctv hard drives. This one’s only 2yrs old.

At least 5 years in my experience. I haven't had a Seagate fail yet.

Not sure what brand the HDD installed is. The nvr I have came with it ore installed. Model nvr is hikvision ds-7608ni-i2-8p. I recently switch from quota mode to group mode. Hoping that fixes the issue. Everyone the alarm would go off I would restart the nvr and would work fine for a while.
