How to record only when AI is confirmed?

I'm sure that I must be looking right past this setting, but I would like to only record when AI confirms what I'm looking for. Right now, I'm getting recordings for everything that causes a trigger. This would allow me to keep many more days worth of meaningful clips if I could prevent shadows from trees blowing in the wind etc. I appreciate everyone's help with this. Thanks!

You would select "When Alerted"

But if you are running substreams, continuous + alerted then you are sure to capture anything if for some reason AI didn't pick it up.

While having lots of days/months sounds great, the reality of it is unless it was something catastrophic (which you would have known about sooner anyway), most are not going to start scrubbing video for something that may have happened a few weeks ago.

By spending time to dial in the alerts and a frequent peek at what is going on, you would have noticed something around your property within days. I literally every morning in under 30 seconds can scrub what happened the night before and see if anything happened I need to look at further

If a neighbor comes up to me and says "sometime around 2 weeks ago someone backed into my car, can you see if you caught it?" You will find that even with the best scrubbing this is a monumental task. Unless they can narrow down the day/time window, most of us are not going to scour it.

Thanks @wittaj, I appreciate the reply. I'm trying when alerted on one problematic camera and I'm still getting tree shadows. I need to double-check my settings.

In that case it is your motion settings that are sending to AI and/or the field of view is such that AI is mistaking shadows for humans.

Posting a screenshot of your field of view and BI settings for the camera may help us further offer input on how to knock those out.

@wittaj... Here's the info for one of my problematic cameras. As you can see, I have shadows that cause numerous no AI confirmed alerts. Would appreciate your thoughts.

You are saving the AI files for analysis, so what is the .DAT file showing you - what is it thinking is an object that you want identified?

The auto-flagging confirmed alerts will fill up your drive and are not deleted by default based on the clips and archiving rules and eventually your system will stop recording as there will be no space. Consider unchecking that.

That is a wide enough field of view that I would consider upping the make time. Only a superhero would be in and out of that field of view in under 2 seconds, so maybe try 2 seconds. I would then add more to the pre-buffer time.

Consider using a zone or zones so that motion on the whole field of view is not being looked at.

It's not that it's mis-identifying something as an AI object, that's working fine. I use the auto-flag feature since my wife likes to be able to select "flagged" on the iOS app to cut down the clutter of non-AI confirmed alerts. What I'd really like to see work is to only record what AI confirms based on the objects I'm looking for. If I could get that to work, I could probably turn off auto-flag.

Good suggestion on increasing the make time. Also, I've pretty much stayed away from zone crossing since it used to be problematic with Edge Vector.

I may be missing something, but your screenshot shows the recording set to "when triggered" (by motion) rather than "when alerted" (by AI confirmation).
