Hi everyone!

Im new to the forum and i have the next question where i'll be gladly reading your responses:
How do i remotely connect to the configuration menu of a single camera?. I can already connect to the NVR through a website like this: of numbers and letters)...., but when i go to the Camera List, and then i try to connect via website 1733852230166.png (red box), it redirects me to an IP website like this: 192.168.x.xx

How can i remotely access the camera config without being in the same network?

Thank you very much in advance!

Are you going h through some cloud like Lorex or Amcrest?

By design, Dahua PoE NVRs won’t allow you to connect directly to the camera with a remote IP. Assuming you are using the Poe ports on the nvr.

As @camdensnyder said, you will need to use a vpn to put you inside that remote network

We use DSS PRO with our own DSS Server, and yes we use the Poe ports, considering this how should i remotly connect to the cameras? And if its not possible how do i connect with a VPN?

Im kind of new to this, thank you!

So Im not familiar with DSS/DSS Pro ($$$) but I assume its connecting over P2P same as the consumer SmartPSS/Lite

No differently that with a home system.

A VPM (like OpenVPN or WireGuard) has a server component, typically at the router, and a client, typically an app

When you connect via the app (like I'm doing now on my PC laptop to a remote NVR) it creates a tunnel directly into the remote network. So now you can simply type the NVR IP address into a browser and access it as if you were "local"
Because the NVR sees the "local" IPm it allows you to access the PoE switched cameras

Yes, i'm connected via P2P, specifically via Dahua's Auto Registration.

So i gotta use a VPN and connect it to the NVR. I'll search about how to configure a VPN and NVR, im not familiar with the topic.

I also have my own server, maybe it could work if i connect to the server and then try to access the camera remotely?

Thank you.

The VPN server software would need to be on a machine (or router) on the same LAN as the NVR at the remote location.
Nothing needed on the NVR

We do it all the time in residential/small business settings as many Netgear and Asus routers have the VPN built in

You could do it via a remote service such as teamviewer on a PC on the LAN also, but that is more clunky. Anything that gives you a local connection into the LAN the NVR is on

I understand now!

Thank you very much.

If you are interested in using either TailScale or ZeroTier the Gl iNet Mt-3000 has both of these apps pre installed plus a VPN Client/Server.

For my needs, the MT-3000 provides a way to connect to a device that has no internet but yet can be accessed from your LAN. Perhaps a printer or a Blue Iris installation, with no internet, as the MT-3000 can be used as a sub-net router.

If adding a second router is not desired, then the ASUS RT-AX86U Pro can be flashed with Asuswrt-Merlin and then TailScale can be added. However, if your system has access to the internet, then adding the TS app to that computer is a much simpler approach.

As a side note, did not have any success with ZT as the android phone would only access ZT when on local WiFi but not on cell data. With TailScale no issue.
