How to reset DAHUA DHI-NVR4208-4P-4KS2 admin password

Hi all, new member, first post so please be gentle :)
I have been "Gifted" the above recorder witha lost password. After almost breaking the web searching how to reset the password I'm almost ready to give up.
I've tried powering up while holding reset button for 30 secs, cant remove battery easily as it's soldered in situ, tried various passwords suggest by the donor, tried the Dahua super password and a few other options and they have all failed.
I'd love to hear from someone familiar with this model if it is possible to reset the password and if so, how it is achieved.

There was early models of this series that had a reset button, but it actually did not work. Is there a forgot password option on the login screen, send a screenshot
 
Another way is to use serial port to flash the new fw to the nvr, these old NVRs are not easy to find the password back.
 
Thanks MC, are you able to provide further details? There is a forgot password option but I have no idea of the email address associated with the NVR
 
IIRC you need a serial to usb cable or if your computer has a serial port, a plain serial cable.
Then all you need is the new FIRMWARE. !st tell us the model number,
boot screen etc.
