Hi All

I hope I get some help with this issue. I know this is a lot of text, but I hope you will read this.

Any help will be appreciated!

Problem:

After approximately 20 to 30 days my Hikvison recorder starts to do “Abnormal Shutdown” constantly, the recorder shut down down and restart.

The Abnormal Shutdown always happened after a task called “System Running State”

The recorder also stops recording to the hard disk (HD) from one camera, not always the same camera.

All cameras have live pictures.

Sometimes I need to completely shutdown the recorder, remove the power cord, the start the recorder for the recorder to respond on the network.

The only solution when this happens is to format the hard disk (Init) on the recorder, then the system runs without any Abnormal Shutdown or any other errors for another 20 to 30 days, I have now done this 4 times now :sad2:

This problem must have something to do with the amount of data written to the Hard disk.

This is not a disk space problem, the 2TB disk is on full, the amount of date is only about 400GB

This might be a limitation on file size on the HD

Setup:

Hikvision DS-7604NI-SE/P recorder.
Firmware: V3.0.15 build 150528

HD: WD 2TB Purple

Cameras:

DS-2CD2732F-IS Chinese version

Firmware: 3 of the cameras runs with: V5.2.3 build 141024

One camera runs with: V5.2.5 build 141201
This camera was firmware upgrade to V5.3.0 from the Hikvision European website, the camera was the bricked and recovered with firmware V5.2.5 build 141201 from this site, thx to whoslooking.

This is what I have done so far:

Upgraded the firmware on the recorder from the Hikvision European website, this was done without any errors, this did not fix the issue.

I have tested with another HD, WD 1TB red, same issue after 20 to 30 days.

Change the HD structure from “quota” to “Group” then format HD, same issue.
Upgraded one camera to V5.3.0, then downgraded to V5.2.5, I did not upgrade the other cameras.

Camera configuration:

Two camera: 2048*1536, other camera: 1920*1080p
Pre-record 5 sec, post-record 5 sec
Expired Time: 30 days, one camera 21 days

Logfiles:

I have attached a log file from the recorder

This is the log when the recorde restarts:

Seems like you need to enable over-write for the NVR.

Remote Configuration -> Device Parameters -> Advanced -> Enable Overwriting

Might be a little bit different depending on firmware.

This setting is already enabled on the NVR

On my 7608NI-E2 it would run for a few days and then boom, abnormal shutdown. I'd hear its internal buzzer chirp upon reboot. The issue started about a month after I got it. Then more and more frequently. Finally I swapped out the Seagate standard HDD for a WD 2TB Purple. Issue went away and never came back. Now I know you have a 2TB WD Purple, did it ever work well? If yes, then my guess is that the drive is going out or somehow causing an issue. I would try another WD Purple or Red (NAS) drive. I've also used Seagate's NAS drive without issue. But non-NAS drives will cause the abnormal shutdown issue, as I've experienced. Make sure you post back when you get this solved.

I also tried with a 1TB WD Red disk, this disk also runs fine for 20 to 30 days, then the Abnormal Shutdown start. I don't have any problems with the systems until the Abnormal Shutdown begins, after some times with the Abnormal Shutdown the NVR also stops recording from one camera. It's like there is a limitation on the file size or what ever.

Not fixing the issue but I would recommend rebooting at least once a fortnight. Ideally weekly. I've had and heard of so many issues with NVRs which are resolved with a simple reboot.
