Ideal 5th Wheel Surveillance System

Hi all,

My wife and I spend quite a bit of that time is boondocking in our 5th wheel and I'd like to have the peace of mind of having an outdoor surveillance system on the rig. I've done multiple searches and can't seem to find anybody who has posted about an RV install so I was hoping someone would be able to guide me in camera selection given the unique circumstances posed by a 5th wheel installation. That said, what would be your ideal setup for a 4-6 camera 5th wheel install that's not thousands of dollars given the below considerations?
  1. Cameras will be mounted at a height of nearly 13'
  2. In an effort to prevent the cameras from being ripped off the rig when I undoubtedly come into contact with tree limbs, the cameras need to be turret/dome style to allow branches and other thing to "roll off" of the camera.
  3. The camera must be able to be side mounted and there will be absolutely no protection from the elements... basically ever.
  4. The ethernet cable will not be able to be fished behind the camera and needs to be run directly up onto the roof so that I can hit a junction box and get the ethernet cables into the rig.
  5. Given that it is just an RV, it's not absolutely necessary that I survey a long distance from the RV, so I'm thinking I would just need cameras that do a good job of identification within 20-30 feet of the rig. However, this is my ignorant assumption, so I'd really love to hear if there are gaps in my thought process.
Worth mention, 120v power is not a concern for me as I have a solar system with a large battery bank and inverter that runs 24/7. As for internet, I run Starlink and cellular modems so I'm good in that department too. I am also aware of the network security measures that need to be taken and I'm fortunate enough to have the Wiki on these forums as well as a network engineer in the family who can help me on that front if needed.

Thank you in advance for your time! I'm happy to have found this forum - you guys have created a very strong and knowledgeable community!
