Hi all, I'm new to the whole ip cam thing and need some help configuring my Hikvision DS-2CD2432F-IW to produce a better image. When it is in night mode and there is motion I get a lot of tracers and it's hard to make out faces in captured pictures. Here is an example:
192.168.0.175_01_20160318100049726_MOTION_DETECTION.jpg
My image settings are:
Video Resolution = 2048*1536
Bitrate = Constant
Frame Rate = 20
Bitrate = 12288
I Frame = 20
Smoothing = 10
Exposure time = 1/60
Gain = 100
WDR = OFF
DNR = On
Noise Reduction Level = 100

Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Wow, that was quick. It helped significantly. Thanks.

I have two other questions if you don't mind:

1. Do you know the maximum SMB share size under the 5.3.0 firmware? I seem to remember seeing a post on this forum saying it was limited in previous firmware versions and I'm wondering if that is why I couldn't get it to work with my 36TB unRAID share. To get around the issue, I have it setup now with an Ubuntu Server VM running vsftpd and then mounted the smb share in fstab to the ftp user's root directory which seems to work fine so far.

2. I continue to get the infamous "network abnormal" error in Safari on my laptop when I try to log in. It loads the configuration page fine in Chrome (but without video) and in Firefox (with video). I have tried clearing the cache/cookies in Safari but that didn't help.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi, did you ever sold the second issue? It's the same for me: one day I upgraded the firmwares to the latest versions, and, while the cameras still give me the "network abnormal" message on Safari (FW: IPC_R6_EN_STD_5.4.4_161125), the NVR (FW: NVR_K51_BL_ML_STD_V3.4.91_161220) now let me in with Safari!

I ended up just sticking with Firefox when I needed access in a browser which is rare. I'm usually just viewing on my iPhone or Apple TV in one of the many apps available for ip cams.

can you comment on which app your using on apple tv? are you using it to access a NVR or camera directly?

I'm using an app called Cam TV, it's not great but it works well enough for what I need. I am viewing the camera feed directly.

Your getting the ghosting image because you're noise reduction level is too high set it no higher then 35 also expose your time set it to 1/200 but ONLY in the day time . Night time 1/120
Your smoothing used be set to 100 frame rate should be set to 10 and iframe to 10 as if your using BI set it to 12 and fps to 10 set gain to 45 keep gain under 50 I would turn off DNR everything else looks OK. Again these are day time settings only you want low noise and in the day time you can do this because of the light. Let me see what my night setting are brb

is it possible to have different settings for day/night? can i leave it in auto switch, or do you have to set a schedule to be able to adjust them separately?
