Installing Hikvision Camera on Dahua NVR 4.0

Hi,

Recently tried to add a hikvision camera to my dahua nvr, set both to onvif, however it keeps saying invalid username or password.

I thought I must have typed the camera password in the nvr incorrectly, so I reconfirmed and typed each character 1 by 1, still facing the same error.

Any ideas?

Did you pre-configure the camera (logging in via the camera GUI) before adding it to the NVR?

In camera, created an ONVIF user?

If also with password, insured no typographical errors with user and/or password?
If yes to all, consider deleting and re-creating.
 
I've checked and rechecked both username and password, deleted onvif user account and recreated, performed hard reset on camera, still facing the same error.
 
Try "digest" only?

i have 2 already hooked up one 2019 and the other 2022 firmware, the one I'm currently trying to add is 2023, the GUI also is slightly different to that of 2019 and 2022.

I tried downloading and dumping the configs from the other two but it wouldn't update probably because of the firmware versions.

The camera itself works fine, I'm starting to think that the NVR might not be compatible with the Hikvision 2023 firmwares...would that be a possible cause?
 
I dont know why people bother doing this, where I am from we call Hik, Gik (as in shite)
 
I have had this nonsense with hik and Dahua NVRs. Have you tried decode strategy to "realtime" and just "TCP" rather than auto setting?
 
Just to try and assist further.

I would recommend adding yourself to the hikvision camera as a "Administrator" rather than a "Media" user.

This has been the case for years, I blame Hikvisions Onvif implementation. I have seen a tonne of issues with their Onvif on 3rd party devices, not only Dahua NVR's
