Invalid Preset

I'm getting this Invalid Preset pop up on alert playbacks. I only have the one home preset on this.

Hmmm never seen that. What could be "invalid" about it?

It appears it was this checkbox. I was following instructions on setting up a spotter and it said to check the box, which I didnn't understand why it was needed, but I checked it none the less. As it turns out, it's not needed. I unchecked it, Invalid Preset went away, and spotting still works as it should. Go figure.

How is it moving to a preset when triggered unless you have it also in the alert telling it to go to that preset?

Or there were two cameras calling a spotter preset at the same time and throwing that error?

There is something amiss in your setup that was causing that.

The PTZ won't move to a preset without some action telling it to do so, so somewhere in your setup you are telling it to move to a preset when that camera is triggered.

I only have it set up in one camera. I can't tell you how it works, but it works right now with the settings I have, as in the image I shared above.

The Carport End camera triggers the Barn camera. Ater I unchecked the box Move to PTZ Preset above that was checked on the Carport End camera, the Barn camera still moved to its Preset 2 with the Carport End camera as triggered.

I posted that change 45+ minutes ago. In the last few minutes UPS came, tripped the Carport End camera and the Barn camera turned around and tracked the UPS delivery lady up under our carport, which the Carport End cam can't see.

EDIT: Think maybe the setting has not taken yet? lol... Mystery for sure.

Barn camera that the Carport End camera is spotting for was triggered after I walked out under the Camera End cam and triggered it... tracked me all the way up to pickup the packages. Apparently, only the two settings are needed.

Then how does it know which preset to go to?

You must have that box checked in the barn camera setup, which is where it should be checked.

It shouldn't be checked in the PTZ camera, if carport end is the PTZ. Actually none of those need to be checked under the PTZ camera

Go to barn camera and I bet it is checked there.

If not then something else is going on.

There is nothing checked on the barn camera. I am pretty sure I followed the instructions, as I was thinking why shouldn't I be setting some of this in the barn camera, but from what I understood in the instructions, you set it all in the spotter camera after setting a preset in the barn camera and adding it to a group.

Here are instructions from your post...

On the Trigger tab for the fixed camera, under "When triggered" select "Move to preset" and select the preset number you just created for the PTZ.

Check the Trigger camera group option and hit select and pick the group name the PTZ is in.

Then check the move camera groups and hit select and then the camera group.

Hit ok and then that fixed cam will call up the PTZ whenever the fixed cam sees motion.

As far as setting up a spotter cam, you can use any camera as a spotter camera. If you see the video in BI, it can be used.

Just set up the triggers to trigger the other cam. Not hard to do in BI.

On the PTZ camera, set up a group containing just that PTZ - it should be the only camera in the group so call it PTZ for example.

In the camera GUI for the PTZ, make a preset(s) for it to move to when triggered which gives the view you want. You can have several spotter cams each triggering a different PTZ preset, but you need to set those up first.

After you are done, redo in BI the find/inspect for the PTZ to ensure it pulls all the presets

Yeah I know what I wrote lol and it says you set it up in the fixed (spotter) camera and not the PTZ (where you checked it) lol:

On the Trigger tab for the fixed camera (spotter camera), under "When triggered" select "Move to preset" and select the preset number you just created for the PTZ.

Check the Trigger camera group option and hit select and pick the group name the PTZ is in.

Then check the move camera groups and hit select and then the camera group.

Hit ok and then that fixed cam will call up the PTZ whenever the fixed cam sees motion.

Something weird is going on. You must have found some combination that works even though it shouldn't and will probably quit working in some update when Ken fixes it lol.

There has to be a way for your spotter cam to alert the PTZ on when to trigger and move to a specific preset.

It looks like as it stands right now, there isn't.

Where is the connection between the barn camera triggering the carport PTZ?

What about under "immediate (pre-alert) actions" - is anything under that?

That is strange.

How is the carport PTZ triggering and moving to a preset when the barn camera is triggered lol?
