I'm coming back to the IP cam community after a couple of decades. Lots has changed.

I live in a fairly remote area, and we have deer, bear, coyote, (and a few sightings of cougar) and a host of other critters strolling through our yard. I'd like to get recordings of those.

I will most likely use openwrt with motion to monitor these and record the activity, so I need basically stupid IP cams that just stream images. I'd like to have separate LED illuminators to avoid blinding the cameras when it rains.

What should I be looking at/for?

The go to camera currently would be the Dahua 5442 series 4MP with a good sensor.

They have their won advanced AI that is likely far better than your motion method, but you can just not enable it and use them as dumb cameras

Distance would be the factor to consider

Same exact cameras sold by the forums favorite distributor but diff part #s
