IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E 30 FPS?

I am noticing in all of the settings for the IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E everyone has 30 fps as an option but I cant get past 25 fps? Is there an updated firmware I am missing somewhere to get to 30 fps?

As a practical matter (unless maybe you have some specific unusual situation) you won't see any difference between 25 and 30 beyond more resources are used. Changing from PAL to NTSC does give you more steps for exposure settings in some cams.

And not everyone runs at 30FPS. In fact most run their cams at 10-15FPS. In many instances it can make the camera more stable and takes less resources to run.

Shutter speed is more important than FPS

I use this camera to capture plates and run 8FPS and catch all the plates.

Watch these, for most of us, it isn't annoying until below 10FPS

True, but it can also cause problems in certain situations.

I noticed the my LPR camera wouldn't trigger in every instance (I knew this because the overview cam triggered and the LPR camera didn't)

So I noticed while watching it live for an extended period that for my license plate camera (which as you know is zoomed in tight to the road to read plates), I watched it not trigger for a big ole yellow school bus, but then trigger for a tiny 2-door car the next minute that was driving slower and then miss the same car coming back 5 minutes later!

For this plate camera, I was obviously running a fast shutter to capture plates, but also had the FPS at 30 FPS thinking that would be better. When I knocked it down to 10 FPS, Blue Iris motion started capturing that bus and other vehicles it was missing. I think the motion algorithm for a tight field of view was having difficulty with the faster FPS as there wasn't as much of a difference comparing frame to frame at 30FPS to 10FPS. A vehicle is in and out of my LPR field of view in under 0.5 seconds and I now get trigger alerts and capture every plate at 8FPS (yes I dropped it even further for longer retention of LPR images).

Been there, done that LOL. 8FPS captures all of mine that are much faster moving than yours, so I am good, and save storage in the process LOL.

I'm referring to my 5241's at the old neighborhood (I still maintain those), but come to think of it, same applies to my slow old people car captures at 30-40ft here at the Swamp.

With the little PTZ pulling LPR duty and sometimes having a hard time finding focus, I need every frame I can get!

Yeah I can see it for the PTZ since you can't set a focus.

I set my LPR cameras to 20FPS. The extra frames help on marginal license plates when I go frame by frame. Some letters or numbers will fade in and out with the changing angle and the lighting. Lots of times I can piece together the license plate number.
