Just getting started in IP cameras and video, looking forward to trying to see if an old dog can learn a few new tricks.

Welcome to the forum. IP is not as hard as you think. Once you get your hands on experience with one job, you'll see it's pretty easy. Do you have any network experience at all?

Thanks, vector 18. I've been retired a few years (did 30 and grabbed the 'chute), so my network experience is dated. I installed several mainframe-client networks, and a couple of small to medium peer-peer. It used to be fun, but got to canned. Switched over to GIS as main interest in 1990's. Operated a mainframe-client network with laptop and cellphone, using terminal emulation. Not much now but had 'em rolling in the aisles in 1993.

Maybe we should change your title to old grasshopper :) I'm sure if you had your hands in all of that, it will be easy for you to learn IP cctv systems. What brand were you looking at?

welcome to the "mainframe in can" hobby...
