I reset this camera using the reset button but it is now no longer working.

The initialization process works with no issue, but I no longer get a camera feed and the menus don't work so I can't factory reset it.

I have tried resetting again using the button but have the same result.

Is this typical when using the reset button?

Any tips for getting it working?

I would provide power to the camera, press and hold the reset button in for 1 minute and then let go.

Then use Internet Explorer, not Edge with the IE tab but plain ole IE that is still in Win10 and Win11.

Is it plugged into a Dahua Poe NVR ?

if so can you log into the NVR and show a picture of the camera registration screen?
Does it have a red or green indicator?
Is the IP assigned 10.1.1.x?

If not connected directly to a Dahua Poe NVR the factory default IP will be 192.168.1.108
Is your network on 192.168.1.x?

Thank you, I will give that a shot tomorrow. I was only holding it for 20 seconds or so.

It's plugged into a PC. My cam network is on a different subnet but I switch the PC back to 192.168.x.x when adding a new camera.

I can initialize the camera this way and add the password, set the time/region, etc. But then the camera does the usual reboot after initialization, it's only then that things stop working properly.

This is a camera that I had initialized before and was using for a while, it just started giving me trouble after using the reset button.

I used the reset button because I moved the camera to a different location and couldn't remember the IP address.

Ok, Upon reset it will be 192.168.1.108
So your pc would have to be 192.168.1.x

I don't think the IP address is the issue because I am able to access the camera to initialize it with no issue. It is only after initialization that it's not working properly. I'm sure the PC is set to 192.168.1.x because I always set it to the same address when initializing a camera

I tried to reset the camera again, this time holding down the button for 1 minute after giving the camera a couple minutes to ensure it was fully booted up.

It gives me the same problem:

-Device initialization completed with no problem.

-However once initialized, there is no camera feed and an error message that says "Operate Failed!"

-No other menu options are able to be opened, other than "Conditions", "Profile Management", and "Zoom and Focus"

Is my 1 year old camera already dead? Any other tips on maybe getting it working again?

Looks to me like you are in Edge? Windows has a way of tricking you to Edge.

The next step to try would be:
  • Unpower unit
  • press and hold reset button
  • provide power
  • keep reset held in for 5 clicks of the IR filter
  • release reset button
  • try to set up in Internet Explorer.
If that fails, then go for broke with a firmware update or reflash the same firmware.

To ensure Explorer is used, try this:

Open up Notepad and Copy this text below in the blank space and do a save as IE.vbs and make it a shortcut on your desktop and then plain ole Internet Explorer will run again.

CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true

Success!

I was unable to get the .vbs script to save properly as a .vbs, however I was able to save a .bat file that did the same thing.

@PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Command New-Object -COMObject InternetExplorer.Application -Property @{Navigate2='about:blank'; Visible=1}

I accessed the camera using IE. I was unable to see any video without downloading plugins, but I was able to access all the menus. I selected the Factory Default option and reinitialized the camera again.

Then I switched the camera over to my cam subnet, then accessed the camera again using edge. For whatever reason, this allowed the camera to display the video.

So far it seems like the problem has been fixed!

Thank you very much for all your help :)
