Issues with Day/Night management on HFW5241E-Z12E

Hi all,

First off, a huge THANK YOU to this community for steering me to this camera. I was looking at LPR cameras costing up to $1,000 when this camera was all we needed!

We have installed 2 of these cameras in our gate and mailbox areas.

The latest camera we installed has an issue with the day/night management. We have it set to Day/Night, but it seems to stick on Night and is always black and white. While it can capture the plates ok, it's odd that it stays in black and white and we loose out on some vehicle information with ALPR. It's odd because the other camera flips over to day color settings just fine.

Any ideas?

You have it set for Day/Night profile and have it set for "Auto" just like the other one?

I'm not at my home to check the exact menu config so my wording may be a bit off.

Yes that is it. Have you played with the Sensitivity?

It will probably be best to force your cameras to switch using this program: Dahua day/night switch utility - DahuaSunriseSunset

There aren't many of us that rely on the light sensor to do it.

I forced it to day, and it was still B&W
I tried setting Day & Night -> Day profile -> from Auto to Color, then back to Auto and now it's in color. Guess we'll see if it sticks!

If it continues, set the cam back to factory defaults, then set it back up from scratch.

Yeah that sounds like a "glitch". Can do a reboot or as @looney2ns recommends, a factory default.
