All,

I have a IPC-HFW4431M-I2 turret.

It HAD IVS. (face detect, intrusion zone, tripwire, missing/abandoned object, etc) I was using the tripwire feature. It was working.

Now IVS has disappeared. It only has Motion Detect, Video Tamper. WTF?

It’s like the camera reverted to a Pre-IVS firmware version.

I bought the camera in early October from aliexpress (so support from the seller may not be adequate).

Currently the camera reports the following:
-- Software Version 2.460.0000.4.R, Build Date: 2016-06-21
-- WEB Version 3.2.1.354451
--ONVIF Version 2.42
-- S/N 2G056F2PAU00043

Q: Does anyone know if this firmware version includes IVS?
Q: Is there a way to “Enable” IVS in the camera?

Thanks in advance!

what browser are you running? are you accessing it directly or through NVR/SmartPSS?

I'm using Firefox, surfing in to the camera (not through NVR UI or SmartPSS)
I'm looking at two cameras this way. One cam shows the IVS features, the other doesn't. So I didn't think my setup or access method were to blame.....

its all loaded up by javascript in the webui; might be something blocking it from being displayed.. mebe try an incognito window and if that dont work reset the device to defaults through webui and see if it comes back.. you can enable features that will disable IVS, such as SmartCodec

nayr,

You said some "features that will disable IVS, such as SmartCodec"

That fixed it! I disabled SmartCodec, and now the IVS features are visible!

Thank you,

Both cams still on the same firmware version? And I hate to nitpick, but the HFW4431M-I2 is a bullet, not turret. I doubt this is relevant to solving this problem but you never know.

And careful on enabling SmartCodec. Seems to me that on at least some firmware versions or regions it can brick a cam if h.265 is also selected.

Looks like we crossposted. I saw nayr's Smart Codec suggestion and figured that was probably it, but with bricking potential plus disabling other features it should probably be labelled WARNING in large blinking letters or left out as an option completely.

Kawboy12R,

Yes, bullet (not turret).
I only have one IPC-HFW4431M-I2. So when I compared two cams WRT the IVS presence, the two cams were different models (with different f/w)

The ali-express seller warned of H.265 with this:
Note:
if you choose H2.64 model ,you can choose smart codec :eek:n or off !
if you choose H2.65 model ,you must choose smart codec :eek:ff !
when the camera h2.65 model ,it can't support smart codec !
when you choose h2.65 model and choose smart code:eek:n ,
The camera will restart by every 10 seconds ! The cameras will be damaged !

So I stayed away from enabling H.265
But no warning of Smart Codec interaction with IVS.

I agree with your comment on "Warning" and/or omitting a feature that could brick a device.

The reason I was mucking with the settings was to T-shoot the loss of substream after the camera boots. But I won't hijack my own thread with that new subject!

Thanks again,
Fastb
