Just over a year and I think my T54IR-ZE-S3 is dying

I don't know if anyone remembers, but I had a heck of a time with one of my cameras dropping the sub feed. This caused issues with Blue Iris and Frigate


Well, now its doing this, visible even in the Camera UI

Is this thing toast? I got it in Feb of 2024, so not old at all

Should I just replace it and move on? Shame on a $200 camera

Does anyone know the warranty period on these? I got it from the EmpireTech store on Amazon

I have a 54ir-as-s3 that drops out multiple times a day. Not sure if it's a wire issue on my part or not, considering I have it hanging off my siding about 5 feet off the ground. So it gets nailed with everything weather wise. When it goes I'm putting a mini-ptz from the rafters. hah

I think Andy has a year warranty on these? I'd at least ask him considering it's been behaving oddly for awhile now.

Wow that sure looks like some kinda of codec issue.

I am sure you tried the factory reset and set up from scratch?
 
Yep, did that multiple times when I had the stream dropout issue

Seems like nothing I can do fixes it

In fact, I got it to do it on demand, if I just put the main stream above 8192kb/s

Main Steam is 2688*1520, H264, General, 15FPS CBR, 8192kb/s, 15 Iframe, 1 SVC (Off) and smooth stream 50 (default)
SS1 - Disabled
SS2 1280*720, H264, 5FPS CBR, 2560kb/s, 5 Iframe, 1 SVC (Off) and smooth stream 50 (default)
SS3 1280*720, H264, 10FPS CBR, 2560kb/s, 10 Iframe, 1 SVC (Off) and smooth stream 50 (default)

My other cameras are pushed way harder, much higher bitrates with no issue

@EMPIRETECANDY is this something I can RMA?
 
What if you turn off the substreams or match the FPS for each one? I don't think that is supposed to be a limitation, but many may not run it at 3 different FPS to experience the issue either.
 
Just turned off all SS, and sure enough it does the same thing
 
I don't necessarily hate the colorful patterns, but doesn't make for good security :p
 
Looks like the cmos is bad, can make a hard reset to the camera, press the reset button for 7-10seconds and check again, if still the same, just contact me for warranty via DM.

Just ordered another T54IR-ZE-S3, my plan is to be able to replace that one right now, then have the camera unmounted so I can anything needed for warranty without being a camera down. Eventually with the new camera, I'll swap an older 2MP camera over for an upgrade

So far so good on the new camera, and video quality is massively improved. I think that was a dud from the start
