Laggy/Delayed Live View

No issues until about three days ago, suddenly trying to live view cameras via UI3, in the console, or the Android app is laggy. UI3 struggles with the FPS, usually 1-3 and it's jumping all over the place. Recording playback and triggers are fine and not delayed. Checked network connection, rebooted several times, updated and reversed versions, checked hard drives, even cleared everything out and started fresh for the database and recordings. Checked live preview FPS and nothing has changed, all camera connections and FPS are fine (set to H264 and 10fps), zero hardware acceleration turned on, direct to disk is on, etc. Folders are excluded from antivirus too.

I've checked everything I can think of. Anyone else seeing this?

1st question is what BI version are you running - let's make sure it didn't update on you.

Have you tried rebooting your router and BI computer?

I'm not in front of it right now but I do know it's the latest stable version. And yes, everything has been rebooted, the BI PC, network everything, etc. It's very odd. Nothing else on the network is experiencing delays or issues, just BI.

I'm seeing the same behavior after restarting for a Windows update last week. Recordings are fine. In live view, all cameras only get a couple frames before pausing for 1-2 seconds.

My license lapsed and I haven't taken an update since 5.7.8.3. It's worked great until now. I'd be happy to pay for license to upgrade if it fixes this.

One of the many reasons why we suggest turning off Windows updates.

Based on that article, rolling back Windows is one potential solution, if it works.

The computer should only be used for BI and thus the risk is minimal of running a not up to date Windows, especially since the computer has anti-virus software.

At that point it is no different than an NVR that rarely receives operating system updates and doesn't have anti-virus protection either.

I believe this says a little more about what's actually happening. I'm not sure at this point that BI can even fix it themselves.

Meanwhile, back at micro$uck HQ, the back patting continues...
