Local BI install to view remote cameras

Let me start with I am an absolute noob at anything like this.
Here's what I am trying to do: I have a few PTZ IP cameras (RTMP/Onvif capable) set up at work. I would like to view and control them from home with a local, at home, install of Blue Iris. So view and control cameras on a different network.
I can view them if I am on the network at work using their IP address, but not from home. I do not want to have Blue Iris or any similar software installed on an "at work" PC. I've tried Zerotier and Tailscale but have no idea how to add IP cameras to the virtual network they create without and intermediate application running on a machine at work. I'm hoping there is a relatively easy way to accomplish it in Blue Iris itself.

I hope that made sense. Any help would be much appreciated.

Edite to add: Step by step instructions with the assumption I know nothing about networking preferred :)

Do you have some sort of VPN (Virtual Private Network) that you use to connect to the work network? What network speeds do you have at home and at work?

Currently I have Tailscale on the work network. I haven't tried adding the cameras to it in the admin panel. I didn't think it would work without the camera running the Tailscale client. I have over 1 gig up and down according to spped test.

Sorry I know nothing about Tailscale, I run an OpenVPN client on my Asus routers and I can access any of my IP Cameras on any of the other subnets just by putting in the remote IP address, I would never try to stream any of my cameras over the VPN connection; in one case I only have 0.9 Mbs upload link speed (yah it out in the middle of nowhere on a slow DSL link).

I appreciate the attempt Bruce. I'll keep digging.
