Basically the title explains it all. I need a cable gland with 50mm of thread that's wide enough to fit a terminated cable through, but long enough to pass a cable through a thick plastic tank. I'm having a lot of trouble finding anything with thread longer than 15-25mm. I need 35-50mm. As soon as you get up to thread that long the glands seem to increase in size exponentially and only seal very thick cables.

Seems like you might have to go with the larger gland, and add some suitable material around the cable to get a good seal. Been in this scenario quite a few times, and I use a piece of closed cel foam.
Of course, another option is to unplug the other end of the cable, and cut off the existing connector. Pass the cable through a much smaller gland, and re-terminate the network cable.
