Hey guys,

I'm looking for a good low light 5MP/4K PoE camera (either bullet or turret) which has a built in light which can be set to turn on/off based on AI detection of humans or pets.
My dad has a unique situation where his neighbour -- who is an elderly lady with schizophrenia -- routinely throws garbage and miscellaneous items over the backyard fence at night. He's worried that she will eventually throw something poisonous to his dog, who may then eat it. If he installs a camera with an 'always on' light, she will complain that the light disturbs her at night.

So for this reason, it needs to be automatic, and only turn on when it detects humans or dogs. Naturally this means that AI object detection needs to be built-in, where I will use it as a trigger for his Dahua NVR to record.

Are there any cameras (Dahua or other brands) which have this functionality built in?

Motion Detection is out of the question, sorry. It will be placed in a backyard with lots of bushes/trees, ie. As soon as there is a strong breeze or rain event, it will spit notifications.

His NVR doesn't have pet detection built in, so it has to be on the camera.

That is the issue. Not many cameras as of yet that have Dog detection that has the other features you want.. The 3849 as said before will give you most of what you need in the IVS.. The issue is that you have a neighbor that is tossing food or trash and that is what is important for detection. Get an alert of that and know to call in the dog or not let out the dog before it is cleaned up..

Sounds like you might be better off setting up a Temp fence that will trap in what your neighbor tosses over the fence.. There is no perfect camera that will do everything we want it to. Older lady can't toss the food or trash that far, Cut off 3 or 4 feet between your fence and rest of the back yard. Put up Chicken wire or some other easy roll out fence to keep it isolated.

Edit: Just looked up your country. Says the neighbor can get in trouble. Sounds like contacting the law is another route to take. Sounds like the elderly there needs better attention to help curve this. Sorry for your troubles. Good Luck..

Well it will work with humans but there is no animal filter.

Not aware of a camera that will do both with white LED lights.

Based on your description, I dont see needing the dog to turn it on anyway. You'll have the same problem as MD shadows.
The dog doesnt sit in one lace until this lady appears does he?

Good luck

He's mostly an inside dog, so the light would ostensibly only come on while he's outside at night (not that often).

The problem is that only her face would be visible above the fence, so detecting a dog would also be a failsafe in case the AI detection misses her.
