Hi all,

Spent quite a while looking into a new PoE turret based camera system for our new home. We are in the countryside, without street lights, so lack ambient lighting. One of the deterrents being how dark it is, means I am reluctant to stick PIR flood lights everywhere with wildlife triggering them and lighting us up like Blackpool Illuminations (and/or Las Vegas) in an otherwise very dark area of the country. Most of the distance covered will be medium+, with a 30ft+ due to length/width of driveway

Looking at youtube reviews, Annke seems a fair sweet spot between price vs performance (and available in the UK). I lack the time, patience & tech capability for Blue Iris, so I would also look to use their NVRs.

I am sort of leaning towards the below camera )#1, Annke AC800), but from some online review the HiLook (#2 below) comes out similar...and at less then half the price is appealing! Annke have several cameras that sort of sit in a similr spot (AC1200, AC800, C800, H800 etc) which can be tricky figuring out the difference & what matters!!

#1 ANNKE NC800 Acme 4K UHD Full Colour Night Vision PoE Camera with f/1.0 Super Aperture - ANNKE Store
#2
Should we be looking at IR as a light source, vs ambient/white LED? I don't mind having a LED come on when the camera detects something (and I can adjust the trigger point I presume, so wildlife can be excluded?) but would want to make sure this is required over an IR based system.

I am less worried about price -vs- performance.... as I will buy 1 or 2 cameras a month and build it up over time vs buying all 8 in one go!

Any thoughts on the above?

Thanks in advance & Merry Christmas!

Right now I don't want to push you away from Annke and I am sure you have a reason that you want to buy their products.. Keep in mind that a couple of months ago they removed the Support Forum from their site and while they do have some ok Phone Support for easy things. Keep in mind that Support for Annke isn't anything like it would be from a company like Amcrest or one of the many other good Dahua OEM companies.. Amcrest is one of the better high end companies you will find. While some people might not like the Support they get that is normally because the issue isn't as easy as click here do that.. But Amcrest offers Support here and they also have a forum on the Amcrest website and issues can normally get resolved in a timely manner..

The NC800 is a good camera on paper I don't own it but with a 1/1.2" sensor and a f/1.0 it will be a good camera for night and day events. But with all cameras being placed in the right place and not expecting more form 1 camera then the camera can really deliver needs to be understood..

One of the things that made me upset with Annke is that when I posted about the older BR200 Annke camera having a Preset for access of the alarm, I was told by Annke that the camera isn't a PTZ camera and so it don't support Presets LOL this isn't the case the camera has preinstalled presets that can do things in the camera that isn't in the Manual.. You know things that someone that owns and uses a product may discover and to pass on to others so they can use a feature without having to own a special DVR for the function to work.. I don't like having alarms going off without a real reason and sure I do own a DVR that works with that camera to trigger the alarm but for it to false alarm all the time only makes others that might be around to ignore your device on a real event.. So I do own a good few Annke products.

If we think about the BR200 and offering some info about an option that isn't in the manual really could only help with sales of that product as some might feel that they don't want to buy something that would require them to have to buy a special DVR to support it.. So I thought I was not only offering info to help others but also help them sell the products lol. But oh well all it did was kind of put me on a do I really want to keep buying the products.. Price is good for most of the products they sale so there is that..

Have ordered it with Annke new NVR after rechecking reviews albeit £400 for NVR & a single camera stings (vs H800 where I could buy 4 x camera and NVR for the same money) but if its dark & the cameras don't see squat...then it's a waste of money even if looks good value for money! The NC800 also fits well into the ideal ratio (8mb and 1/1.2") vs the H800 (8mb and 1/2.4") which doesn't!
