Looking for recommendations

New here and looking for some recommendations. I own a doggy daycare and boarding business, and am trying to find some cameras that I can install in our boarding suites. Looking for something that customers can be granted access to via the web, preferably with some sort of password, to look in on their dogs during their stay with us.

Any ideas would be great. There are a few systems out there geared specifically towards my business, but they are far more complicated and expensive than I need. I am only looking to provide video feeds from 3 rooms individually.

I'd definitely consider Blue Iris on a qualified PC as a VMS. Each user can have a unique username and password, you can limit what they can and cannot look at or control and even how low long they can look. Very flexible and well worth under $70.

Blue Iris also requires a dedicated always on PC and Hard Drives so its a bit more than $70

A good NVR will run you $300+ and be more reliable and easier to use IMHO

But if you like to tinker with computers, BI does offer some minor advantages and play better with cameras that arent the same brand as the NVR

I did say "Blue Iris on a qualified PC."

FWIW you can get a PC that runs Blue Iris very well on a PC for less than $200 and have money left over for a new HDD for the video clips.
Investment can be very close to that of a NVR.

Just stating more facts to aid in a qualified decision.

Hey, NVR users out there....just wondering, can you set up a remote user of a NVR that:
  • Can be limited as to which cameras they can view?
  • Can be limited as to how long they can view cameras and/or limit the time of day that they can view them?
  • Can be limited regarding bandwidth?
  • Can be limited to specific camera groups?
  • Can be allowed/disallowed to listen to recorded audio clips?
  • Can be prevented from viewing recorded clips?
  • Can be allowed/disallowed to operate the controls of any PTZ camera?
  • More controls and conditions?

  • Can be limited as to which cameras they can view? YES
  • Can be limited as to how long they can view cameras and/or limit the time of day that they can view them? NO
  • Can be limited regarding bandwidth? NO with the NVR but with the managed switch running it
  • Can be limited to specific camera groups? YES
  • Can be allowed/disallowed to listen to recorded audio clips? NO
  • Can be prevented from viewing recorded clips? YES I can allow Live, Playback, and Administrative controls
  • Can be allowed/disallowed to operate the controls of any PTZ camera? YES
  • More controls and conditions? YES

Not saying its perfect, but much more control over user access than you may think. Mine is 7 years old, newer ones can do more.
