Hi all - while I have had a few IP cameras in the past, I would consider myself a technophile but IPC noob. I recently purchased a home with a c. 2012 Wirepath / SnapAV NVR with 4 cameras - one dome and three bullet.
I recently got my Synology NAS up and running at the property, and I thought I’d start by replacing the existing NVR with Synology Surveillance Station. I’m not on-site now, but I was not able to get the old cameras to connect to Synology which led me down the path of researching new ones … was looking at Reolink and Amcrest and then found IPCT.
It sounds as if Andy EmpireTech is well regarded here, and I seem to have stumbled into good timing with upcoming Black Friday sales. So … looking for help from the community to quickly pick 4 replacement cameras for me.
Here’s the situation:
All four existing IP cameras are wired w/ CAT-x Ethernet and have dedicated 12V power cables going to each location.

1. One indoor ceiling-mounted dome covers a large garage
2. One outdoor wall-mounted bullet looks up a long driveway and views a detached garage off to the side
3. One outdoor wall-mounted bullet looks across the attached garage to the entryway
4. One outdoor bullet covers the rear of the house, but does a poor job due to the addition of a sunroom (either wall mounted or “ceiling” mounted on a short overhang)

I’m thinking that three outdoor cameras should be one bullet (for the long driveway view) and two turrets. The rear exterior would be nice to have wide angle given its poor location.
Not sure what to do for indoor garage camera.

Going by photos and memory. #1 is mounted about 8’ and views tandem garage: maybe 25’ x 35’ or so. #2 is mounted about 12-15’ up and was a view of ~75’, maybe 100’. #3 is mounted about 8-12’ up with a view of 30 - 40’. #4 is mounted about 8’ up and has very limited view due to addition since install.

Can you make some recommendations to help me replace these four cameras? I will likely stick with Synology Surveillance Station for now.

Thank you!

FYI, the IP2M-841 is not a dome (but you probably know that) but more important, it's a 5VDC camera, not 12VDC.

Thanks, Tony. I did see that and figured I’d have to redo my powering plan for that one (or find something close at 12V). I am a bit tempted to replace the Wirepath multi-output 12V power supply with a PoE power injector, but if I can make the 12VDC supplies work, why not use them.

You could power a 12VDC auto accessory USB charger (the old cigar lighter adapters) and plug the USB cable from the 841 directly into it. I'd just make sure it's a quality, highly-rated device since there's no UL-listing for those. And I'd make sure it was not hid in the wall, ceiling, box, etc. but fully exposed.
