I am confused with the model numbers from Dahua. The have numbers like N45DJ62, A22CJ62, DH-IPC-HDBW8232EN-Z-SL, 6QE240VNI, etc. There seems to be no consistency so what do all those numbers and letters mean (I searched the Dahua forum but couldn't find anything). I am looking at the different versions of the 5442 camera which everybody seems to like but can't find that number anywhere when going on dehuasecurity.com

Like @bigredfish mentioned, Dahua uses different model numbers on their website based on the Location you've chosen. Most folks here use the model numbers (at least the four digits, i.e. '5242') found on "International" location because that location usually has Dahua's complete lineup. If you change the location to "North America", not only do the model numbers change, but Dahua doesn't even sell some of the popular models that folks here use.

To add another layer of fun, most forum members here will buy Dahua through Andy (@EMPIRETECANDY), a vendor that's very active on the forum. He sells Dahua equipment under his own brands (OEM)... it's the same hardware/firmware, just no Dahua logo on any of it. He usually sells it for a good deal less than what you can buy the Dahua branded versions for. I don't think EOM vendors can sell using Dahua's exact model numbers, so he modifies them a little bit. Usually he replaces the three digit HXX code at front (which Dahua uses to denote if it's a bullet, turret, or dome) with simply the letters B, T or D. There's usually a good review thread here for any of the popular Dahua models.. they' usually have Andy's model number in the thread title ,but often the first post will link to the product on Dahua's website (International location) where you can see the full Dahua model number.
